Katie

On a typical day, you can find Katie playing fetch with Neko. Who is Neko? He is a cat. Yes! A cat that plays fetch. She was surprised too. Katie’s passion for (or slight obsession with) animals started at the age of four when her parents surprised her with her first pet, Susie the Guinea Pig. Since her younger years with Susie, Katie has shared her home with fish, hamsters, bunnies, cats, a hedgehog, many dogs, and even an albino python named Malfoy.

Katie’s idea of the perfect surprise party happened on her 27th birthday when she was blind folded and taken two hours outside of Toronto, where she spent her birthday with a group of alpacas. When Katie isn’t playing fetch with Neko, or hanging with alpacas, you can usually find her at her favourite coffee shop listening to the Beatles.

Katie previously worked for Dogtopia, a local dog daycare and boarding facility, and more recently expanded her knowledge of animal care while working for Bide Awhile, an animal shelter that has been dedicated to the well-being of animals for over 50 years. Katie is committed to continuously learning about animal care and is excited to do so as part of the Dundas West team!
