Dr. Leslie Burke wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. Originally from southwestern Ontario, Dr. Burke completed a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Laurentian University in Sudbury before heading over to London, UK for veterinary school. Although she now focuses on small animals, throughout veterinary school, Dr. Burke participated in various zoo and wildlife projects. This included wildlife rehabilitation in South Africa, as well as clinical and research roles at the Toronto, London, and Lincoln Park zoos.
Dr. Burke qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon from the Royal Veterinary College in 2014 and stayed in London where she became owner of her own clinic in 2015. In 2018, while working full-time in clinical practice, Dr. Burke embarked on a Master’s level postgraduate degree at the University of Liverpool. After completing over 600 hours of continuing education, Dr. Burke graduated in 2020 as an Advanced Practitioner of Small Animal Medicine.
Dr. Burke remained at her clinic in London until she moved back to Ontario in May 2021. She is still a licensed member of the RCVS in the UK and is proud of her dual citizenship.
Dr. Burke lives in Toronto with her two sphynx cats (Hefner and Boo), who travelled back from the UK with her. Her clinical interests are vast, but she particularly enjoys the management of chronic medical conditions, soft tissue surgeries, and caring for geriatric patients.
